Welcome to Task Force 72

S.E.N.T.I.N.E.L. (Sector Exploration and Necessary Tactical Interdiction Near Enemy Lines).

Toward the end of 2387, two revelations by Starfleet Science marked a turning point for the Federation. First, in November of 2387, Starfleet announced plans for an operation by the middle of 2388 to quell the forces of the subspace singularity located in the middle of the Valoris Nebula responsible for fueling its rotation. This meant the phenomenon responsible for much of the Breen Crisis might finally subside, allowing Task Force 72 to focus on operations more exploratory and scientific in nature.

Second, in December 2387, the USS Merrimack successfully returned from a six month voyage through the Inconnu Expanse. The Expanse, a region isolated from surrounding space by violent subspace phenomena catalogued as gravitic storms, had previously been inaccessible to Starfleet due to these storms. During her half year survey mission, the Merrimack had discovered two safe routes for transiting the storms encircling the Expanse: a long but relatively easy one around Tzenkethi territory near their border with the Talarians, and a shorter but more challenging one through a heavy storm region between the Breen and Tzenkethi.

Though there would be challenges with mounting operations into the expanse, the Merrimack brought back reports that the Expanse had a dense interior teeming with warp-capable civilizations, and thus Starfleet decided to explore the Expanse in earnest.

At the beginning of 2388, the Fourth Fleet announced that Task Force 72’s mandate would be expanding to include exploratory, science and diplomatic operations within the Inconnu Expanse. It would remain responsible for the borderlands from the edge of Cardassian territory to the edge of Talarian space, but with the Breen Crisis subsiding, it was felt that Task Force 72 would be capable of the additional undertaking.

Under the skillful command of Task Force Commanding Officer Vice Admiral Bradley J. Harrison and Task Force Executive Officer Rear Admiral Alexander Kendrick; the ships of Task Force 72 stand ready to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no man has gone before.

We would like to welcome Ian Cargill III, and Skalia Gisé home to the USS Coventry. Gisé will be controlled by Sheila who was playing Karin Falke but changed her mind and wished to revive an old favorite. Mr. Cargill has joined our simulation and I do hope he enjoys our game.

The Coventry has a facebook page! Together this site proves to be a great addition to our group! It allows the crew to talk amongst each other ask questions and just be plain silly. Communications for needs not seen prior to launch has been slotted as an individual department. Chief Communication's Officer, Cadri Otis is slated to begin her position slightly after launch! With her promotion to a Chief position comes a promotion to the Senior Staff and a promotion to Master Warrant Officer! We would like to welcome the following people, Luke who will be portraying our Chief of the Boat as well as First Sargent, Sheila who will be reprising her role as Executive Officer Karin Falke, Jen who will be double dipping as Head Nurse Diego Williams and Operations Officer Ensign Ellema Dione, as well as Ben our webmaster will be taking on the role of Carna Ge, Chief Counselor.
